At Empower Healthcare Solutions (Empower), we want to make sure that our members have the best possible experience with their healthcare providers and services. That’s why we participate in the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) program.
While some CAHPS surveys are administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Empower administers our own surveys to better understand our members’ experiences. We value your feedback and encourage you to share your thoughts with us. Together, we can work to improve the care we provide to our members.
CAHPS is a program that asks patients to share their experiences with healthcare services. The surveys were developed with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and they cover many different areas of healthcare. Some surveys ask about experiences with doctors, clinics, and hospice teams, while others ask about experiences with health plans and programs. Finally, some surveys ask about experiences with care delivered in hospitals, dialysis centers, and other facilities.
At Empower, we take the results of these surveys seriously. They offer an indication of how well healthcare organizations meet member expectations. We want to make sure that we are providing the best possible care to our members, and the feedback we receive from these surveys helps us to do that.
If you are selected to participate in a CAHPS survey, we encourage you to share your experiences. For each survey, you can download formatted survey instruments, guidance for administering them, and information on analyzing and using the results. Information in the guidance documents is based on the survey developers’ extensive research into best practices in survey design and administration as well as analyses of data collected during the field testing of each instrument.
